ABSTRACT

The Collaborative Life Sciences Building (CLSB), a health sciences research and teaching building on Portland's South Waterfront, is a joint enterprise of three local institutions, the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), Oregon State University (OSU) and Portland State University (PSU). An Lochran, then, is a joint-venture project which has delivered an economy of scale for its stakeholders, but it also points to how this building type is serving to stimulate the links between business and academia that are becoming ever more relevant in twenty-first-century education. Ideologically, HIE and UHI share a strategic vision to develop the Scottish Highlands and Islands, largely through a social and skills remit. The Library Services Center (LSC) is a climate-controlled archive facility that houses library collections of Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology, sited some three kilometres and 10 kilometres from their respective main campuses.
