ABSTRACT
Leveraging weight, easy shifts of flying and supporting, responding kinetically in groups and pairs; the physical actor’s toolbox is an asset for the experimenting director, some contacted scenes can translate directly to the stage. If everyone performs a separate act at once, the audience sees a jumble of action. The audience will be able to give feedback on whether actions were clearly delineated and if they could follow the sequence of events. Having experimented with devising through the guided improvisation, reader is ready to construct on reader's own. The ten minutes usually turns into fifteen or twenty minutes as creative actors given time to actually plan, become enamored with their scenarios. Circus Act gives automatic license for creative play: wild animals, acrobats, and aerialists will appear alongside the proverbial strongman and magician. Simultaneity of action implies agreement, and well-executed unison motion allows the audience to relax, secure in the implied harmony.
