Factors That Can Affect Grief book
During the grieving process parents experience a variety of painful emotions. But experiencing these emotions is not all there is to grief. Often, due to internal or external factors, parent's response to grief can be heightened or diminished. Internal factors can, for example, include parent's personalities or how they felt about the deceased, despite his or her relationship to us. External factors can include events that occurred in the past, that are occurring at the time of the death, or that will occur shortly thereafter. The chapter provides a sampling of some of the factors that can impact the way in which bereaved persons grieve. If the parent is an employee of a large company or corporation, the parent have probably been given a personnel manual that describes, in great detail, company policy. In that manual is a section on what is sometimes called "death leave."
