ABSTRACT

From the moment of death, a child's murder creates voids in the parents' lives—voids that can never be filled. The murder of a child, teenager, or young adult is a heinous crime. The passage of time does not erase their child from the parents' thoughts. The loss of sharing small gestures of love and future events with their child are but two of the permanent negative changes the parents must endure. Places the parents visited with their child can also become painful reminders. The parents know that certain sights, sounds, smells, and places will always remind them of their murdered child. Before their child was murdered, the parents' lives were normal and happy. Most parents, because they believe in the goodness of mankind, strive to develop the qualities of kindness and caring they see in their children to the highest possible level.
