ABSTRACT

In the beginning, the parents' minds are filled to capacity with the horror of their child's murder. A death produces many incoming and outgoing phone calls. When the cause of death is murder, the number of calls increase considerably and the parents can need someone to help man their phone. During this time, many people, including members of the press, might visit the parents. The parents will need help in other ways as well. One of the parents' greatest fears is that other people will eventually forget their child. Most children have a special talent or interest. The horror of being notified of the murder is second only to the horror of the funeral. Seeing their child's body lowered into the ground, or placed in a vault, slams home the cruel reality that the parents will never again hug, kiss, or speak with their child.
