ABSTRACT

The activities in a specific program are those which assist children in acquiring control and accuracy of eye movements required for the inspection of educational materials. Children will learn eye fixation for the minute inspection of details, develop eye span to visually select the item of pertinence, and acquire eye movements to sweep a line of printed words, or symbols in the reading act. The Eye Movement section is another important piece that fits into the jig-saw puzzle of the complete learning process. It is much more than a simple eye muscle exercise. The importance of good eye-hand coordination for proper learning has long been established as evidenced by the time spent in tracing, drawing, cutting, etc. The reading act, since it must be done with eyes alone and without the use of hands, is interdependent upon the firm foundation of hand-eye coordination.
