ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book presents a wide-ranging discussion of some very complex issues. Successful organizations need to address a number of important concerns if they are to remain successful. These will include financial and technical matters; operational and strategic concerns; and various related matters. Gordon captures well the importance of how organizations respond to trauma and loss: How well organizations respond to the grieving persons in their midst will either complicate or facilitate their grief. Spirituality is a term that is often associated with religion. Leadership has been a recurring theme throughout the book. This is because the demands of loss, grief and trauma in the workplace present challenges partly for the individual concerned; partly for colleagues and line managers; and partly for leaders with responsibility for the overall tenor and climate of the organization.
