ABSTRACT

In the wet grip of sorrow, I sometimes wonder where tears come from. I know they come from inside me. Although the tears appear to emanate from behind and underneath the eyes, their source is much deeper. They come from hormonal and neurological messages far below and above those eyes. And beyond those ridges, the origin of tears lies even deeper, in the thoughts and feelings that trigger these bodily messenger services, in the ideas that tease and threaten, or experiences that tear away at the soul. Tears come from deep and far-away places within us.
