ABSTRACT

This chapter helps us to gain an understanding of best management practices, project management processes, and project management accountability. Project management, as it relates to the landscape industry, is primarily associated with construction. There are certainly applications to maintenance/management contracts, but the procedures defined in project management are critical to the construction sector of the industry. Quality standards are a key component of a company's procedures. The establishment of standardized project procedures becomes best management practices. Monitoring and control processes are an integral part of project management that audits all the work being done on the project and provides verification for project managers as well as the client. Execution starts with the establishment of open communication between the client and the general contractor, subcontractors, and landscape production teams through weekly meetings. Sequential implementation of the project management processes is a structured approach to profiling and managing projects.
