ABSTRACT

This chapter helps us to gain an understanding of establishing employee identity through job descriptions, job description components, the recruiting process, hiring legalities, creating a company culture, and procedure for terminating employees. It covers a plethora of topics pertaining to acquisition and management of employees. The single most important concept that should be gleaned from the text is that employees are individuals who require cultivation, appreciation, and development, regardless of their position. The companies who cultivate their employees reap the harvest of growth and profitability. The job description provides an identity for employees and clearly defines their responsibilities and functions in their positions. Recruiting is a process by which companies attract the right persons for specific jobs. Recruitment emphasis in the landscape industry used to be primarily on management personnel until the advent of a labor shortage of field personnel.
