ABSTRACT

The digital gaming industry’s impact and size is already hard to measure. From its early text-based days to today’s online immersive experiences, this important and influential medium continues to evolve and captivate players. What is generally thought of as Game Design is a complex collaboration of team members with a wide variety of skills and roles. Creating games requires the ability to understand and utilize game tools and systems in order to create an environment that is both engaging and challenging. In addition to using the digital tools available—such as three-dimensional modeling and animation programs—Game Artists and Designers need to be aware of the theater of game design and game play. Always at the forefront of advances in computing and digital media (like virtual and enhanced reality), game development, like all digital media, will require the work of talented, skilled, and creative individuals in the years ahead.
