ABSTRACT

This chapter will focus on the use of video and motion graphics in design presentations.

Ethan’s firm would soon be interviewing for a wayfinding project at a large hospital. Ethan learned first-hand how important wayfinding is to anxious patients – and their partners. His son was born six weeks premature just a few months earlier. Having no opportunity to visit the hospital in advance, he had felt bewildered as he and his partner hurried toward the maternity ward.

Back at work, Ethan was confident in his firm’s capabilities, but firm leaders were unsure if they would even win the project. Their company was smaller than their competitors, and they had never worked on such a high-profile project. After discussing their predicament in a staff meeting, Ethan nervously shared his story. Together, they decided that a video filmed in first-person recounting Ethan’s experience would not only be memorable, but it would illustrate their passion for the project.
