ABSTRACT
One of the largest countries of Europe yet sparsely populated (Helsing Almaas, 2010), Norway has for a long time been geographically isolated from its neighbors. Internal transport routes were so torturous that even into this century it took less time to reach Bergen from Great Britain than from Oslo.
