ABSTRACT

A portfolio is a curated document that demonstrates a candidate’s alignment with the needs of an intended audience, whether it be an employer or academic admissions committee. Where the previous chapter determined a portfolio author’s key differentiators, this chapter provides direction on what material may be presented and integrated in a portfolio in order to convey alignment and an individual’s differentiation. The balance of technical and design skills in a portfolio is important to any organization as it demonstrates the ability to transition a design from well-illustrated ideas to feasible reality. Unfortunately this balance in a portfolio potentially gives rise to ignorance, laziness, and pride – three extremely detrimental traits in any candidate’s successful career and portfolio.
