ABSTRACT
As the writer, students should determine which comments will incorporate and which will discard, but the feedback they receive from these various sources will give valuable information on how to improve the communication of ideas to their audience. The chapter presents the guidelines designed to help through this process. The guidelines are: the reader is always right; expect students instructor to comment on the content; concentrate first on comments about ideas; reconcile contradictory feedback by seeking clarification and reconcile comments about style with style manual. The guidelines also include: allow sufficient time for the feedback and redrafting process; compare draft with students topic outline; check the structure of review for parallelism; avoid overusing direct quotations, especially long ones and avoid using synonyms for recurring words. The guidelines further include: when used, coined terms should be set off by quotations; avoid slang expressions, colloquialisms, and idioms and check draft for common writing conventions.
