ABSTRACT

Building tables that summarize literature is an effective way to help students get an overview of the literature they have considered. In addition, they may want to include in their literature review one or more of the tables they build, which will also help to provide an overview for the readers of students' review. This chapter focuses on the following guidelines: building a table of definitions, building a table of research methods, including a summary of research results in the methods table, and establishing criteria for determining which literature to summarize in a table when there is much literature on a topic. The guidelines also include building two or more tables to summarize it when there is much literature on a topic, presenting tables in a literature review only for complex material, discussing each table included in a literature review, and giving each table a number and descriptive title.
