ABSTRACT

After thoroughly looking at the specific topics in depth, it is worth taking stock of what is happening at the present moment. Artists such as Katya Grokhovsky, Annetta Kapon, Gracie Hagan, and Julia Fullerton-Batten continue to challenge the understandings of female body image by further developing viewer participation and challenging past art historical norms. It is important that these artists need to be looked at in the context of the changes that are happening in the world trying to help women suffering from eating disorders and NSSIs. Different-size Barbie dolls and preventions against unhealthy models walking runways are ways that agencies are taking control and trying to help women find more acceptance with their bodies. In setting up these artists and changes, this conclusion proposes that this work is only the beginning of these issues being explored and encourages these conversations to continue.
