ABSTRACT

W hen Denise Bredfeldt, an employee for International Harvester first laid eyes on Jack Stack the new plant manager, she was hanging from a hoist in the transmission area, where the guys

had hooked her up by the back of her coveralls; they’d then gone off to break, leaving her hanging. She recalled: “That wasn’t the first time that had happened. This particular time just happened at a time Jack was walking through the aisle. I’ve said many times that had I known the true meaning of the word sexual harassment and hostile environment, I would be a very wealthy woman right now. Jack was pretty new. I’m not really sure if he even saw me, but he just walked right on by and kept on walking.”1
