ABSTRACT

Clueless managers and the clichés they utter are always good for a laugh whether we are talking about movies (Office Space), television (anything from Bewitched to The Office) to plays (How to Succeed in Business [Without Really Trying]) to comic strips (Dilbert). In a world of limited resources, the idea of “ win-wins” doesn’t happen often. “Giving 110 percent” is just, well, “fuzzy math.” As for “We have to push the envelope,” have you ever actually tried to push an envelope? It’s a lot like “pushing string” or “herding cats.” It ain’t easy.
