Trust, has deep psychological and neurochemical roots. Conversational Intelligence facilitates connectivity with others and enables us to activate our higher executive and human functions. The Onboarding Intervention turned into a venting and dumping session, with the whole room taking sides, and most labeling her as a non-collaborative, dictatorial leader. Candor, collaboration, and cooperation are almost impossible to establish in environments where turf wars and one-upsmanship exist. By learning to mentor experimenting in our organizations, we activate a positive power that quells the brain’s anxiety and fear and activates our executive brain’s energy and capacity for co-creation. The company was forming matrix teams and cross-functional projects—and at the same time it was raising the bar on performance goals and the level of collaboration required.
