ABSTRACT
Wilhelm told of a time when he was “permitted to help,” when he felt “called
back by an inner voice.” This spiritually resilient man has obviously interpreted
his medical experiences as far more than a way to make a living. He spoke of
his work as a privilege and a call. Although it is not the language he used, the
most appropriate word to describe his work is vocation.
