ABSTRACT

In earlier chapters, I argued that comics are not merely disposable entertainment, but a useful medium of communication and a worldwide cultural phenomenon. But what are the specific advantages comics can offer for technical communi - cation? In this chapter, I draw upon multiple theoretical frameworks to answer this question. Some comics-style technical communication examples are included to demonstrate these advantages, and more examples, categorized into their respective genres, are dis cussed in Chapters 5-8.
