ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I thought to draw on personal experience in looking at two
perspectives on the end of life that are not often examined in terms of their impact
on the individuals and their attitudes toward this time. The two perspectives
regarding the end of life are that of adolescents and those shown in a military
ceremony used in the 18th and 19th centuries, Feu de Joie or Fire of Joy.
