ABSTRACT

This chapter explores – with other thinkers and scholars, friends and acquaintances – a topic of importance to ourselves and to them. A qualitative analysis was then undertaken to extract patterns and find keywords with similar content – using colored pencils and a "cut-and-paste" technique. The chapter focuses on the changes taking place in people's own lives as a result of information and communications technology (ICT) being introduced into their daily lives; the most positive aspects, and the most negative aspects; and what the quality of life or a good life means to them. It presents the items that they mentioned as being either the most positive aspect or advantage of ICT or the three most important factors that contribute to a good quality of life. The main positive aspects of ICT mentioned by our respondents are the opportunity it offers of sharing, cooperating, communicating with people, and social relations.
