ABSTRACT

This chapter, Chapter 6, presents the questions this study tries to answer and offers hypotheses about the answers to those questions. The Theories section describes the theories used and presents the application of evolutionary theory to those questions and hypotheses. The Method section discusses how the federal research questionnaire was adapted to a corporate audience, the rationale for including questions about Sarbanes-Oxley involvement, and the variables derived from that questionnaire. It describes the target population, explains how the sample was developed, and discusses how the survey was distributed. It also presents the response rate and reliability for the relationship scale, and it explains why tables from prior management analyses of the three federal studies were used to compare the results of this study with that analysis.
