ABSTRACT
Semi-documentary novels and movie depictions are analyzed in order to offer the comparison between two different disciplines of analyzing and investigating rapes (academic writings versus artistic expressions). Within this chapter, the author questions the (opportunistic) use of arts, which could offer the space for more complex debates on survivors’ sexuality, but instead most of the analyzed art works reproduced the established images. The narrative analysis brings us to the conclusion that narratives, no matter the field, promote very limited knowledge and ideas on post-war rapes sexuality of the survivors, and even more, the narratives usually help to maintain the silence and denial surrounding the legacy of the crimes.
