ABSTRACT
Palsgrave had impressive credentials for undertaking this task. He studied at Paris and at Cambridge, perhaps at the same time Erasmus taught there. Palsgrave taught French at the English court when Thomas Linacre, author of the De emendata structura (1524), was serving as physician to Henry VIII. Among his students at the court was Mary, the king's sister and future Queen of France.
