ABSTRACT
Talking about sex and sexuality is inescapable in talking about and with girls and young women. The poem above expresses clearly some of the uncertainties involved in the expression of sexuality for young women, the fears of rejection and the links between love and friendship, between affection and sex, which are so important in one common experience of female sexuality. The poem could plausibly have been written about a possible boyfriend. In fact, it was written by a member of Manchester Young Lesbian Group and is about another girl.
