ABSTRACT
There is a cartoon which shows a social worker arriving to meet a young woman who is using a wheelchair, perhaps to prepare her for community care/independent living. The social worker says to the young woman, ‘We’re going to empower you … but don’t worry, if you can’t manage, we’ll disempower you again.’
