ABSTRACT

In chapter 3, I showed how the ENR flirted with left-wing ideas in the 1980s and 1990s that for some critics harkened back to the fascist “third way” between capitalism and communism. In 1998, the French nouvelle droite published a provocative, collaborative work Le Mai 68 de la nouvelle droite (The New Right’s May 1968). In this chapter, I further examine the nouvelle droite’s left-wing flirtation, namely, the profound impact of its New Left legacy connected to the events of 1968.
