ABSTRACT
The work of preparing a new edition of my book on the literature of the Great War, Heroes' Twilight, has involved me in reading some of the many studies of
the subject published since it first appeared in 1965, a period during which
'war literature' and particularly 'war poetry' have become established subjects
for academic teaching and research. Here is an account of a few of them.
