ABSTRACT
Philosophy, along with any number of other intellectual disciplines, is concerned with solving problems. Moral philosophy is about solving problems of conduct: problems such as what I should do and what sort of person I ought to be. It is also about getting people to change their behaviour: implicitly, in saying that something is impermissible, we’re also making a claim that other people should stop doing it forthwith.
