ABSTRACT

In the training design cycle described in the Introduction we saw that the design of test items came after the initial training needs analysis and before we started work on course design proper. This is because any training process requires you to have a clear idea of the end-point. We need to know the operational performance to be achieved by students once they have finished training. We need to be certain that graduates from our course will be capable of useful work as a result of our efforts. Therefore, a testing regime must be established which will tell if a candidate has reached the end-point. After that, you design the events required to allow the students to achieve the desired level of performance by the end of training.
