ABSTRACT
As indicated above, the main rationale of the total landscape is eco-
nomic in nature. Both David Harvey (Harvey 1985, 1989, 1989a)
and Henri Lefebvre (Lefebvre 1976, 1991) have argued that one of
the dominant aspects of post-industrial capitalist production is the
transformation of space into time through the mediation of money.
