ABSTRACT

We recognise that projects have been undertaken by mankind from the start of civilisation over 5,000 years ago. Modern project management began with military projects in the Second World War. Since then the science of project management (as it began then) has developed into a science and art. We believe it has the potential to develop into a spiritual practice as well. This chapter will provide a brief overview of the evolution of Project Management through the present time and our vision of Project Management in the future (Figure 9.1).
