ABSTRACT

As one goes through the Project Risk Maturity Model (RMM) questions, and accompanying discussion (see Chapters 6 to 11), it should become evident that the highest scoring answers to a number of questions are dependent upon having shaped the risk management process, at least in part, with a top-down approach. However, the principle of using a topdown approach is not always followed in practice. Nor is it covered by many professional training courses or a number sources of professional guidance. Thus, many readers may be unfamiliar with what is involved. The aim of this chapter is to illustrate the importance of using a top-down approach and the multi-pass process that this implies.
