ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines the main features of women’s trade unionism. The context of the research is the UK and therefore the discussion focuses on British patterns. However, women’s under-representation in trade unions is a phenomenon affecting most countries in the developed world and therefore much of the discussion has salience beyond the UK (for example see collection of articles in Colgan and Ledwith 2002).
