ABSTRACT

There are various methods to set an agenda for a Workshop, ranging through a spectrum from pre-set topics specified by the organization, to an initial 'blank sheet of paper' upon which the Workshop participants can write their own agenda. One way to obtain some feedback on the success of a Workshop is to return to these flip-charts in the closing session and ask the groups to tell you whether their hopes were realized and whether their concerns materialized. Ice-breakers are about setting a mood, and call for stage-management and sensitivity. As a general rule, if all the participants already know each other, be wary of using them. The number of groups is often determined by the time available for feedback. At the very least, move between the groups and listen for clues to help you plan your management of the feedback session.
