ABSTRACT
Being assertive is about being adult, acting in a commonsense way. All social workers have common sense, don't they? It's the clients who lack it, isn't it?
If only the divide were that clear-cut! If we all employed common sense there would be no social workers who smoked, drank excessively, had sexually transmitted diseases, were overweight, or unfit.
