ABSTRACT

Since the early sixties many scholars have addressed and discussed at length the question, "What is the nature of Islamic Science?" (including Social Sciences). A bibliography of contemporary literature (between 1977-1986) concerning Islamic Science which contains 126 references can be found in a paper by Munawar Ahmad Anees1. A selected bibliography on the subject can also be found in Ziauddin Sardar2. However the term 'Islamic Science' in this paper is not to be confused with the same term used exclusively by western historians to describe the science during the Islamic Civilization (especially between 900 AD to 1300 AD).
