ABSTRACT
All documents not otherwise identified derive from the Departmental Archives of the Haute-Garonne. Those from other archives are thus indicated: Municipal Archives of Toulouse (TAM), Departmental Archives of the Tarnet- Garonne at Montauban (MADTG), Departmental Archives in Maine-et- Loire at Angers (AADML), and in Paris the National Archives (PAN) and National Library (PBN). In the last of these there is a large collection of volumes called the Collection Doat that are so designated here. The main documents in the National Archives are the charters and registers of the ‘Trésor de Chartes’ that are commonly referred to by the letters J and JJ followed by a box or ‘layette’ number and the number of the particular charter. The charters have been calendared and published in the five volumes called Layettes du Trésor des Chartes (Paris 1863–1909) referred to here as Trésor des Chartes.
