ABSTRACT

Various options exist for an organization wishing to expand its operations. Amongst these are licensing, agency or franchising (there is a lot of overlap in the negotiations to set up these three options). Each one of them utilizes the managerial and marketing competence of existing organizations through arm’slength relationships. They can be relatively quick routes to market expansion in distant markets, where the organization does not have sufficient expertise to replicate the local successes of operating in its home market.
