ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the link between the objectives of the different governance institutions and shows how that impacts the responsibilities, metrics for measurement of objective accomplishment, associated tools and organizational outcomes. It discusses the theoretical perspective, which links the different governance theories into a model. The different elements of the model are linked together using the project governance paradigm. A typical prerequisite for the model is a governance paradigm that defines the corporate perspective in relation to project management needs. Governance institutions therefore, will act and make decisions that balance benefit maximization, moral appropriateness and ease of understanding in the wider social or organizational context. The legitimacy perspective enables governance actions, including the project and its management, to gain social acceptance. The governance model for projects is complemented by the governance model for project management. The governance paradigm provides the link between governance of projects and governance of project management.
