ABSTRACT

My theme is the tie between introspection and rationality. In using the term 'introspection' I presuppose no particular positive conception of the knowledge one has of one's own mind; I assume just that this first-person knowledge differs somehow in kind from the 'third-person' knowledge others have of one's thoughts, experiences and so on. To say just what this difference consists in is a philosophical challenge. The question I want to address is what the relationship between rationality and selfknowledge has to do with meeting this challenge.
