ABSTRACT

CPD activities cover virtually anything which can be seen to expand one's knowledge, responsibility, decision-making powers and/or competencies. There are several reasons for recording CPD achievements, some more positive than others. There is, of course, the basic reason of allowing others to monitor trainer progress. Individual CPD plans and records, properly maintained and updated, will be available for reference to both the manager/mentor and the development support function (DSF). Somehow, expending effort on planning one's future activities and objectives seems a much more positive activity. Initially separating personal and professional development issues allows more specific responses to each. Clear maps and plans are helpful for everyone involved in keeping the journey flowing smoothly, with everybody achieving to the best of their ability. Detailed reports help us identify potential blocks and shortfalls which require some form of remedial assistance.
