ABSTRACT
I was present on several occasions when people made explicit and veiled threats of sorcery. There were also many instances of suspected sorcery which people freely talked about and in which I could participate. All this helped me to assess old cases and to determine whether there had been any fundamental changes. I conclude that during the early years of fieldwork there had not been any appreciable changes as I think will be evident from the following cases.
