ABSTRACT

What are the recent changes in the G8 Summit and what significance does the KyushuOkinawa Summit have in that light? The Japanese government still underestimates the significance of the G8, as it does not fully recognise the changing aspects of the summit. The G8 summit has become an international regime that performs the role of crisis management. Neither the United Nations nor the United States can fill that role alone. What is necessary for global governance at present is the co-operation of the major countries, which is facilitated by the G8.
