ABSTRACT

One recently published museum report did not even discuss collecting, but instead designated it as an aspect of conservation work.2 The report's focus was on work with the public and conservation problems associated with existing collections. It went on to suggest that if museums were to continue to collect as previously, they would simply add to the conservation mountain. It was therefore better to reduce collecting, and in this respect Samdok came in for praise, having collected fewer objects in recent years than formerly.
