ABSTRACT

In the aerospace and aviation industries, operations analysis, as the words imply, is the application of quantitative analytical techniques to the operations of aircraft and equipment.

Aircraft operations in both civil and military service are complex, involving large numbers of variables that have a bearing upon costs, efficiency, and the ability of the aircraft to perform specific missions. The job of the analyst is to identify the many variables, quantify them, consolidate them into an abstract model of cost or performance, and use the model to predict outcome or to recommend mixes of variables that will result in optimal outcomes for the operator.
