ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter we acknowledged the need to avoid a deterministic
approach when considering the complex relations between telematics, the city, and
traditional urban public space. Consequently, the necessity was identified to focus
the research work outlined in this book on the aspects of the social shaping of the
‘cyber-city’, rather than on the efforts of foreseeing possible future developments
of the phenomenon.
